For the Love of Dog was founded in 2004 by a group of like-minded Rottweiler lovers who wanted to avoid the politics of other rescues. Over the course of time (and Hurricane Katrina), the group included the very-misunderstood bully breeds on a limited basis, as well as an occasional mixed breed, and even a kitten!
For the Love of Dog is funded solely on donations, adoption fees, grants, and fundraisers. The group has no paid staff and all intake, adoption, fundraising, fostering, and administrative tasks are done by volunteers.
