 Matthew

June 28, 2008 - For the Love of Dog prides itself in placing good dogs with good families. In more than 11 years, we have elected to euthanize unsafe or unstable dogs rather than place them with the unsuspecting public. For the Love of Dog provides full disclosure on all animals placed.

Matthew was placed with a family that did not provide Matthew with the structure and level of containment required for any dog and Matthew was allowed to run freely and unsupervised in an unconfined area (which is a direct violation of our contract, not to mention completely unsafe).

Matthew was involved in an altercation with another dog that caused that dog serious injury. While accounts of the incident conflict, and the adoptive family has put in writing a differing account of the incident than the owner of the other dog (which is to be expected), there seems to be no actual eye-witnesses to the event.

For the Love of Dog considers it irresponsible to place dangerous dogs in society. Whether Matthew was in fact dangerous or not can not be established. However, he paid the price with his life -- unfortunately as many dogs do for a human irrepsonsibility.

Rest in Peace, Matthew. Heaven is a better place than many places on earth.
